New Course: Melodic Picking Practice Plan

with Trevor Gordon Hall

In this new JamPlay course with Trevor Gordon Hall, students will explore right-hand exercises through melodic lead playing. This series of 25 guitar lessons is designed to really focus in on some of the problem areas, getting the right and left hand to work together. Trevor breaks them down into technical fingerstyle guitar exercises, then helps you put them back together into musical context — all with fully orchestrated backing tracks for you to play along with!

Some of the concepts this course will cover include: alternate picking, sweep picking, breaking out of pentatonic boxes, interval paying, 3-note-per-string patterns, and major scale patterns. Each of these concepts will be accompanied by a picking practice lesson that breaks it all down in three different tempos.

I had a lot of fun putting the material in this course together and I think that you’ll find that although there is a lot of technical information, all of it is meant to serve a musical purpose. – Trevor Gordon Hall, JamPlay Instructor

Before you take this course, there are a couple of things that might be helpful for you to know:

  • fretboard basics
  • playing some scale patterns
  • right hand alternate picking

However, the material in this should be accessible to players of all skill levels.

After you’ve taken this course, you are going to walk away with improved ability to get your left hand and right hand working together.

The Melodic Picking Practice Plan contains 25 lessons along with guitar picking exercises and backing tracks that let you play along. To access the full course, you must become a JamPlay member.
